"Let's not try to be everything to everybody. We're individuals. When you think for yourself you can be tastefully different."
~ Elliot Gant
It all began with shirts for GANT, and they've never stopped reinventing them. Born in 1949, it's a shirt rich in legacy and history. The combination of the founder Bernard Gantmacher's dedication to quality and his sons Marty and Elliot's sense for style and business proved to be a winning formula.
Since the first button-down shirt worn by polo players in the late 1940s, GANT went on to develop boldly-coloured shirts in unusual fabrics including Madras, candy-stripe and tartan. These shirts were in tune with the revolutionary mood of the 50s. This moment in fashion history became known as the Oxford Colour Explosion and has been a key feature of the Ivy League Look ever since. In 1971, they produced their first collection of premium American Sportswear, including ties, trousers and rugby shirts. Today, GANT's detailed craftsmanship and effortless American style appeals to many generations of women and men looking to feel casually sophisticated.
GANT believes that producing and consuming retail products and garments can have environmental and social impacts throughout their life cycle. They aim to integrate sustainability into all stages of their value chain to manage potential effects on people and the planet.
Key targets include:
